What else do I need to know?
What should I prepare?
You have 5-10 minutes to “WOW” the adjudicator and show off what you do best. Be ready to showcase your musical ability by preparing up to three different styles of music. Prepare jazz, rock, big band, classical, etc. Classical jury pieces are acceptable as well. Remember that this is an audition, not a jury, so we might not have you play through all of the prepared selections. You will be expected to exhibit moderate proficiency in sight-reading skills
Rhythm section: We are looking for drum set players who can double on a snare, quad or bass drum; a jazz piano player who can double on marching drums; and an acoustic/electric bass player who can double on bass drum or tuba. We will provide a drum-set (bring your own sticks), bass amp and piano at the audition.
Will an accompanist be provided?
No, an accompanist is not provided nor needed. Improvisation with CD accompaniment however is acceptable.
Should I bring a résumé?
Yes, please prepare a résumé of your past performance experience and education.
What should I wear?

We provide daily transportation to and from work. We highly recommend you bring your own vehicle for personal use on time off.
When would I start?
The program dates for 2010 will be the beginning of June through mid August at the Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, California.
What would I wear at work?
We provide an entire costume including shoes. Please provide your own closed-toed athletic shoes for rehearsal.
Can I take time off during the program?
You will be given Sunday/Mondays off during your work week. Because of the short time commitment for the program, other time off cannot be permitted.
Can I work other gigs during the program?
You may work outside gigs during the program with the approval of the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band director provided that they are not during Disneyland Resort work hours.
If I can't make it to an audition, can I send in a video?
Yes, however we recommend you try to make it to the audition site; it is in your best interest for us to meet you – and hear you – personally. If your only option is to send video, please tell us about yourself including what you have done, with whom you have studied, and answer the following questions:
- In addition to your musical talents, what special qualities will you bring to the Disneyland® Resort All-American College Band presented by Yamaha?
- What are some of your other interests besides music?
- In what leadership roles have you served?
- Do you plan to pursue a career in music? If yes, please describe.
The audition tape should be about 10 minutes in length. Include your resume’, name, address, phone number, and email address so that we can contact you. We need to receive the tape by February 26, 2010.
