John Renfro joined The Walt Disney Company in March 2002 as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer and reports to Bob Iger, President and CEO.

Renfro is responsible for Human Resources across The Walt Disney Company and its diverse global business segments, which include Media Networks, Parks and Resorts, Studio Entertainment and Consumer Products. He leads the culture and organizational development, employee development and training, employee communication, staffing and recruiting, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, diversity and inclusion, and human resource systems for 129,000 employees serving 175 countries around the world.

Previously Renfro had been the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Gateway based in San Diego. Before coming to Gateway, Renfro was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for Zenith based in Chicago.

Before Zenith, Renfro was Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for the Small Business Services division of Ameritech based in Chicago. Prior to joining Ameritech, Renfro was Vice President of Human Resources for A.C. Nielsen International and Dun & Bradstreet's Consumer Marketing Information Group for Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Africa operations, based primarily in Sydney, Australia. During his six years at A.C. Nielsen, Renfro also served as Vice President, Human Resources, for the domestic marketing research division.

Across more than 20 years in human resources Renfro has business experience in over 60 countries, extensively in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

Born December 31, 1959, and a native of Illinois, Renfro earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Sciences from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1982. He also completed the Advanced Executive Program of the Kellogg Management Institute at Northwestern University in Chicago. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Urban League, the Pepperdine University Executive Committee of the Board of Visitors for the Graziado School of Business and Management, the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business Corporate Advisory Board, and the External Advisory Board of the Southern Illinois University College of Business and Administration. He has also served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the San Diego United Way. He resides in Los Angeles with his wife and their three teenage sons.
