| Disney Channel Launches New Fall Schedule
Disney Channel, the #1 primetime destination for kids and families on basic cable, launches a new schedule in September highlighted by the premiere of the original animated series "The Replacements," from Walt Disney Television Animation plus Dolly Parton guest starring on "Hannah Montana" and Cheryl Burke ("Dancing with the Stars") appearing on "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody." Also, the blockbuster Disney Channel Original Movie "The Cheetah Girls 2" will be broadcast in Spanish with English subtitles. Effective Tuesday, September 5, Disney Channel kicks-off a new weekday and weekend lineup.
On September 16, Playhouse Disney introduces preschoolers to an innovative new CG-animated series entitled "Handy Manny." Led by Wilmer Valderrama as Manny, this multicultural series features a voice cast of colorful characters, including master of voices Tom Kenny ("SpongeBob SquarePants") and catchy music by legendary Latin artists Los Lobos.
On FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, Disney Channel presents new episodes of "Hannah Montana" (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) plus the premiere of "The Replacements" (9:00 p.m., ET/PT).
On "Hannah Montana," Cody Linley ("Cheaper by the Dozen," "Hoot") guest stars as Jake Ryan, a fellow student/TV star who Miley rejects as her date to the school dance only to have second thoughts after Lilly accepts his offer.
On "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," Zack and Cody are excited that their Dad is in town visiting, but all three must deal with Mom dating a new boyfriend.
The original animated comedy series "The Replacements," created by renowned children's author and illustrator Dan Santat ("The Guild of Geniuses"), executive-produced by Jack Thomas "(The Fairly OddParents") and directed by Heather Martinez ("SpongeBob SquarePants"), premieres FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT). Produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, the series features a main title theme song performed by power pop band The Wondermints ("Austin Powers"), who recently toured with Brian Wilson. Noted keyboard player/lead singer Darian Sahanaja wrote the lyrics and music.
"The Replacements" depicts the comedic results when orphaned siblings Riley and Todd send off for a new set of parents, direct from the mysterious Fleemco Company in Canton, Ohio. The tweens soon realize that they can replace any adult in their life simply by making a call…but they aren't fully prepared for the consequences. Meanwhile, their new family is Agent K, an international spy for a mom; Dick Daring, a cartoonish professional daredevil for a dad; and C.A.R.T.E.R., a cynical talking spy car and Agent K's former partner.
The voice cast includes Nancy Cartwright ("The Simpsons," "Kim Possible") as Todd, Grey Delisle ("Fairly Odd Parents") as older sister Riley, Kath Soucie ("Pooh's Heffalump Movie") as Agent K, Daran Norris as Dick Daring and David McCallum ("N.C.I.S.") as CAR.
JoJo's Grandma Tickle is having trouble remembering certain things, so it's up to JoJo and her family to help her, in an episode premiering on Grandparent's Day, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 (9:00 a.m., ET/PT).
Later in the day, Disney Channel pays tribute to Grandparent's Day with themed episodes beginning with the Disney Channel Original Movie "Up, Up and Away" (1:00 p.m., ET/PT) and episodes of "Kim Possible," "That's So Raven," "Phil of the Future," "Hannah Montana" and the Disney Channel Original Movie "Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior" (8:00 p.m., ET/PT).
On FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, Disney Channel presents a new episode of "That's So Raven" (7:30 p.m., ET/PT). In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, bilingual actresses/recording artists Adrienne Bailon and Belinda Peregrín host a special airing of the Disney Channel Original Movie "The Cheetah Girls 2" (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) which will be broadcast entirely in Spanish with English subtitles. Immediately following the unprecedented airing, an encore presentation of "The Cheetah Girls 2" will be presented in English with Spanish subtitles. During the event telecast, popular Mexican band Belanova's music video "Eres Tu" – the Spanish remake of the "High School Musical" song "What I've Been Looking For" – will premiere.
Playhouse Disney continues the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with a new series for preschoolers, "Handy Manny," on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 (10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., ET/PT). Set in the ethnically diverse community of Sheetrock Hills, "Handy Manny" features personality-rich characters, catchy Latin-themed music, and engaging storylines that involve solving problems through cooperation and ingenuity. Manny Garcia is the town's cheerful handyman, who's always available to help others. In each episode, Manny and his eccentric team of trusty singing and talking tools work together to fix a problem. The series teaches preschoolers simple Spanish words and phrases by putting them into a real-world context. Starring is Wilmer Valderrama as Manny with theme music by Latin artists Los Lobos.
"Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" Mouse-ka Friends Week is presented on Playhouse Disney SEPTEMBER 18-22 (8:30 a.m., ET/PT). Each episode features a different animal that Mickey and friends must help. A new episode starring Pluto premieres Friday, September 22.
On FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, Disney Channel presents an all-access pass to "The Cheetah Girls Concert Special" (8:00 p.m., ET/PT). Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan and Kiely Williams perform songs from "The Cheetah Girls 2." The song-and-dance night continues with a new episode of "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" (8:30 p.m., ET/PT).
"Dancing with the Stars'" Cheryl Burke guest stars as Shannon and Rip Taylor guest stars as Leo. Zack, Cody and the rest of the Tipton crew join the ballroom dance class Esteban and become part of a ballroom dance team.
On FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT), the legendary Dolly Parton guest stars as herself, playing the godmother of Miley Stewart, on "Hannah Montana." It's up to Aunt Dolly, in a covert operation with skill and acrobatics, to help Miley and Lilly retrieve a videotape of Miley expressing her true feelings for Jake Ryan (Cody Linley, "Hoot").
