Making the World a Better Place

The hard work and dedication of Cast Members and employees around the world is essential to Disney's environmental commitment. Since Disney created a formal environmental department in 1990, Disney's Environmentality™ brand has represented environmental initiatives and programs around the world, bringing light to important topics, and helping employees, Cast Members, Guests, and consumers get involved. In the coming years, expect to see Disney increase these efforts further through the production of content inspiring environmental action.

Cast Members around the world are committed to Environmentalityâ„¢ and it shows -- every day!

In 2008, the Company rolled out The Green Standard, a global program encouraging every Cast Member and employee to reduce Disney's operational impact on the environment by adopting specific environmentally friendly behaviors at work, in meetings, while planning events, during travel, and while dining during work hours.

Disney also launched a new motion picture label branded Disneynature this year. These documentary feature films will be released in theaters globally and will tell stories by capturing wildlife in action. With these films, Disney hopes to inspire a new generation of environmentalists and wildlife champions, as Walt did nearly half a century ago with the renowned "True-Life Adventures."

Additional efforts will take place at the business unit level as more employees and Cast Members band together to create change. Environmentality is one of the most universally adaptable programs - every business unit can implement initiatives and the collective power of many can dramatically reduce Disney's overall footprint.
