When Walt Disney began planning Walt Disney World Resort, he set aside approximately one-third of the property for permanent conservation land. Today, Disney's legacy lives on as the Company continues to partner with numerous local and federal groups to support conservation initiatives including strategic breeding programs, rehabilitation efforts, and animal research. In addition, Disney supports conservation work worldwide by granting donations via the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund (DWCF). As the Fund continues to grow with support from Guests, Cast Members, and other donors, conservation projects will continue significant work around the world. Additionally, the conservation efforts of Disney's Animal Programs clearly set the Company apart from other corporations; this work is imperative to the health of our world. As people continue to impact ecosystems and biodiversity, Disney will increase efforts to respond, equipped with some of the best talent, necessary experience, and comprehensive resources to protect this planet's natural elements.
