A team of international scientists, including Disney researchers and members of Conservation International conducted real-life expeditions to the Himalayas last year. The cultural and scientific journey explored the Himalayan mountains of Southwest China and Nepal, part of 4 years of research and preparation for Disney's Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. The expeditions included expert biologists and botanists who searched for plants and animals not yet discovered in the eastern Himalayan region. While scientists researched the landscape, Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde explored the powerful legend of the yeti, a creature revered as "protector" of the mountain. Dr. Anne Savage, conservation biologist at Disney's Animal Kingdom, led a team into a reserve that is home to Golden Monkeys, the animals providing the inspiration for the attraction's "yeti".
