ESPN X Games embraced an aggressive plan for waste reduction and
education at the X Games 11 venues in Los Angeles, August 4-7, 2005.
Setting the standard for environmental excellence in the production of
sporting events, the X Games 11 environmental initiatives included:
recycling, composting, usage of sustainable materials and educating
staff and spectators. Many state, regional and community groups
provided support and guidance during the development and
implementation of this plan.
Trash stations like this one were found throughout
the venues, designating where and how
spectators and staff should sort their waste. |
This display educated spectators about composting and the
benefits of sorting waste.

TRASHed RECYCLING STORE
With the help of Global Inheritance, an organization
striving to inspire youth activism, X Games Environmentality™ brought
the TRASHed RECYCLING STORE to X Games 11! Spectators were able to
bring their recyclable items to the TRASHed RECYCLING STORE in
exchange for cool stuff, such as athlete autographs, custom art, music
and much more! Spectators discovered how their efforts to separate
trash, recyclables and compostables can make a big difference. Visit www.getTRASHed.org for more information about Global Inheritance.
Spectators caught recycling received one of these tokens (pictured, at

STORE!
