President, Worldwide Operations
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts
Managing the operations of five theme park and resort destinations around the world, as well as a variety of other Disney vacation and leisure enterprises, is quite an undertaking; but the man in charge is uniquely qualified for the role. In his first 22 years with Disney, he held 20 different jobs, from roles in accounting and general ledger to such varied positions as finance manager for entertainment and vice president of resort operations support. He rose to the top position at the Walt Disney World Resort in 1994 and then became president of worldwide operations for Parks and Resorts in November 2005. "It has been an incredibly magical journey," Al says.
In his role, Al oversees the strategic direction and growth objectives for Disney's vacation destinations around the globe, while aligning operations at all sites. Topping Al's list of priorities is integrating operations across Parks and Resorts so the business is more responsive to Guests. That includes ensuring consistent, efficient business practices that enable Parks and Resorts to launch innovative new products and services around the world.
Al has spent his entire career with Disney, starting in 1972 at the Walt Disney World Resort as an hourly Cast Member. As president of the Walt Disney World Resort, Al oversaw such major initiatives as the opening of Disney's Animal Kingdom, the launch of Disney Cruise Line, the kick-off of four major celebrations and the largest resort expansion in Walt Disney World history.
Al is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and earned his MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. He is active in the Central Florida community, serving on the boards of several civic, educational and charitable organizations.
