Steve Wadsworth is president of the Walt Disney Internet Group. Under Wadsworth's leadership, WDIG offers a compelling mix of interactive entertainment and information content and services for audiences around the world created directly for Internet and mobile devices. WDIG also develops new media platforms for distributing content from other divisions throughout The Walt Disney Company. In addition, WDIG provides strategic leadership, business execution support and a world-class technology platform for all The Walt Disney Company Internet properties, including category leaders ESPN.com, and the ABC-branded sites. WDIG has overall responsibility for the number one Web site for kids and families, Disney.com as well as Disney branded mobile entertainment and Disney's network of family targeted sites.
Wadsworth was among the founders of Disney's Internet efforts when the company formed Disney Online in September 1995, and he was appointed president of the Walt Disney Internet Group in 1999. He has played a critical role in leading the company's successful drive to profitability and growth as he led a restructuring of the business and current expansion into broadband and wireless.
Prior to being named Disney's Internet chief, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of WDIG, responsible for all strategic planning, business development, technology operations, finance, accounting and administrative functions. He came to Disney Online from Disney Consumer Products, where he served as director of business planning.
Before joining The Walt Disney Company in 1993, Wadsworth was a principal for the Windsor Park Group in Los Angeles. He was responsible for providing strategic, operational and financial management consulting services to companies primarily in the retail and consumer products industries.
Wadsworth is a frequent spokesperson on Internet issues and guest speaker at Internet industry forums. In 2004 and 2005, he served as chairman of the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and has since been named chairman emeritus by the group. He holds a B.S. in engineering from the University of Virginia and received his M.B.A. from the UCLA Graduate School of Management.
