Walt Disney Internet Group
mDisney Fact Sheet

WDIG was an early entrant to the mobile content market. In 1999, WDIG launched informational, text-based content services in the U.S. under the ABCNEWS and ESPN brands. In August 2000, the widely recognized Disney-i service launched with NTT DoCoMo in Japan, including Disney branded graphics, ring tones, games and utilities. Today, Disney is one of the leading mobile content distributors worldwide, with distribution in 70 countries through agreements with 115 carriers and distributors. In Asia Pacific alone, more than 865 million mobile consumers have access to Disney mobile content.

In October 2007, WDIG launched a free, ad-supported mobile phone version of Disney.com that allows users to access the world of Disney on their cell phones. The new mobile site leverages Disney.com, the number one online family destination, as well as features developed specifically for mobile, and further extends Disney's world class entertainment from movies, television, music, live events, theme parks and more to the wireless arena.

With an emphasis on developing locally relevant products, Disney's mobile content library features a wide range of mobile entertainment products across the company's portfolio of brands, including ringtones, voicetones, games, video, graphics and applications. A recent highlight includes the launch of Disney Wonder Days in Japan, the company's first mobile virtual world that allows subscribers to create avatars, interact and chat with others, play games, shop for virtual clothes and furniture, and spend time with Mickey and friends.
