DISNEY FAMILY.COM REACHES TRAFFIC MILESTONE; LAUNCHES PARENTPEDIA, A WIKI FOR MOMS

NORTH HOLLYWOOD , Calif. , August 16, 2007 – Disney Online, a division of the Walt Disney Internet Group, announced today that its recently launched online parenting resource, Disney Family.com (www.family.com), has reached a milestone of one million monthly unique visitors in July 2007.1 Disney Family.com also has unveiled a new and unique site feature, ParentPedia, an innovative “wiki” for moms that is comprised of hundreds of key parenting topics as compiled by its advisory counsel, the site’s editors and the user.

Launched in March 2007, Disney Family.com provides content, search and community elements for parents – in particular moms. Topics on the site range from education, food and parenting, to advice on traveling with children, entertainment and shopping. Traffic to the one-stop “best of the Web” resource has been steadily growing, with more than one million different visitors logging onto to the site in July alone. Additionally, Family.com’s internal tracking shows the ParentPedia section has gained immediate popularity, becoming one of the site’s top destinations.

“Our strong growth across the board demonstrates that we are fulfilling the goal of Disney Family.com to provide parents everywhere with answers to everyday questions while connecting them with other parents,” said Paul Yanover, executive vice president and managing director of Disney Online. “As we continue to expand the site with compelling new features like ParentPedia, we provide our current and future community members access to even more information in one place.”

The newest Disney Family.com resource, ParentPedia is an innovative family online encyclopedia comprised of parenting topics from pregnancy through college graduation. It was created for community members with questions to ask, suggestions to give and real-life experiences to share.

The ParentPedia is divided into four, easy-to-navigate sections: What Experts Say, What Parents Say, Tell Your Story and Helpful Resources.

  • What Experts Say provides the definition of each topic at hand and is developed by Disney Family.com writers and parenting experts.
  • What Parents Say is a collaborative guide where parents offer suggestions and solutions for each topic.
  • Tell Your Story captures true tales, often humorous, of community members’ experiences with a particular parenting issue.
  • Helpful Resources includes links to outside sites that provide information on a certain topic.

A ParentPedia search is conducted according to a particular topic or by searching all topics alphabetically. The ParentPedia search engine can be found on the homepage of Disney Family.com.
